Jason Smith - RHP
High School... At North Canyon High School, Jason Smith loved baseball and was a good enough pitcher to earn a scholarship to Glendale Community College. He passed up the opportunity in order to enlist in the Marines, deciding he wanted to "grow up" before trying for a career in the sport. Jason was killed December 31st, 2004 while on patrol in Anbar province, Iraq.
On March 3rd, 2007, DBLL renamed the Majors field at Echo Mountain School to Jason Smith Memorial Field. The sign above the scoreboard serves as a reminder that the kids playing the game today are tomorrow's heroes.
